Each of my large sculptures begins with a maquette, a small model. It is there that clay and I interact most actively and creatively. Traces of the tools and various objects that I spontaneously use are imprinted in the clay. Also, there is the evidence of the way clay responds to touch and pressure of all sorts; I often throw it on the ground. In the process, "unknown beings" emerge.|
PERSONA III is in the lineage of my Cliff Form Series that draws heavily upon the nature of rocks and mountains, earth forms to which I respond strongly.
