Persona II
Date: 2006 Dimensions: 4' x 15" x 13" (Sold)

Each of my large sculptures begins with a maquette, a small model. It is there that clay and I interact most actively and creatively. Traces of the tools and various objects that I spontaneously use are imprinted in the clay. Also, there is the evidence of the way clay responds to touch and pressure of all sorts; I often throw it on the ground. In the process, "unknown beings" emerge.

PERSONA III is in the lineage of my Cliff Form Series that draws heavily upon the nature of rocks and mountains, earth forms to which I respond strongly.
